چکیده
Ongoing climate change is manifesting in the expansion of urban heat island (UHI) effect. This paper evaluates microclimate benefits cool pavements and green infrastructures a historical square Rome, Italy. The ENVI-Met software enabled us to conduct microclimatic analysis examined July 2021, through comparison thermal performances current asphalt sampietrini pavement (AS) with three alternatives. proposed options are existing layout include: light concrete slabs furniture consisting 5 m high trees (LC+G1), perimeter hedge (LC+G2), 15 (LC+G3). effects road as passive countermeasures UHI effect investigated terms air temperature (AT), mean radiant (MRT), predicted vote (PMV). results show that worst option, while integrated vegetation greatly beneficial human comfort. Compared layout, LC+G3 best scenario, because it implies an AT reduction higher than 3 °C, MRT equal 50%, maximum PMV value 2.2.

Cities are experiencing rapid population growth and consequently extensive urbanization. Land-use/land-cover change is one of the important elements worldwide, which significantly affect the environment. This study aims to describe the emergence of urban heat and cool islands as a result of changes in land-use/land-cover. Land surface temperature over a 32-year period in Isfahan city, Iran was ...

Urbanization through rapid constructions, is the main cause of high heat absorption in urban centers. In addition, the accumulation of heat energy resulted by removal of vegetation cover, has contributed to formation of urban heat islands (UHIs). The spatial distribution of heat intensity in Tehran Metropolitan Area was studied, and the influence of land use and green cover were analyzed in the...

Mitigation of the urban heat island (UHI) effect at the city-scale is investigated using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model in conjunction with the Princeton Urban Canopy Model (PUCM). Specifically, the cooling impacts of green roof and cool (white/highalbedo) roof strategies over the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area during a heat wave period (7 June–10 June 2008) are assess...
متن کاملUrban climates and heat islands: albedo, evapotranspiration, and anthropogenic heat
As an introduction to this special issue on urban heat islands and cool communities, this paper reviews some of the characteristics of urban climates and the causes and effects of urban heat islands. In particular, the impacts of surface albedo, evapotranspiration, and anthropogenic heating on the near-surface climate are discussed. Numerical simulations and field measurements indicate that inc...
